What Is Already Above The Window

Wall-mounted AC units, exposed ducting and structural beams sit right on the track line in a lot of Abu Dhabi apartments. We check for that before quoting, because the answer changes the job. Sometimes we drop the track below the obstruction, sometimes we recess into the reveal instead, occasionally we split the run.

Fixing Into Concrete, Not Board

Buildings on the island are largely solid concrete and block, so there is no hunting for a slab behind gypsum. What it does mean is masonry anchors and a proper drill, and it means the fixing line is effectively permanent once made. We mark the height and agree it with you before a single hole goes in.

Curtains That Move With You

Most island apartments are rented, so we make curtains to a drop you can take with you. The track is fixed to the wall and stays, the curtains come down and leave. A lined curtain can be rehemmed or reheaded to fit a new window later for a fraction of a new set. Tell us at the visit if you are renting.

What A Made-To-Measure Quote Includes

A made-to-measure price covers four things: the fabric by the metre, the lining behind it, the making up, and the track with fitting. Our square metre rates include all four, which is why they read higher than a ready-made curtain and lower than four separate invoices.

Fullness and lining move the price far more than the face fabric does. A sheer made at two and a half times fullness uses more metres than a blackout at twice, so an inexpensive sheer across a wide run can cost more than a mid-range lined curtain on the same window.

The home visit, the measuring and delivery within Abu Dhabi are not charged separately. You get a written quote per window rather than one figure for the whole apartment, so you can drop a room out or change a lining without us starting the quote again.
