How Far The Hem Clears The Floor

Three options, and they are not interchangeable. Clearing by about a centimetre suits anything you draw daily, especially beside a balcony door, because it never catches underfoot or collects dust. Kissing the floor exactly looks best but needs a genuinely level floor. Puddling by five to ten centimetres suits a formal room you rarely touch.

What The Fabric Is Actually Made Of

Polyester holds its colour against strong light, washes without shrinking and costs the least, which is why it goes on most sea-facing rooms here. Linen hangs beautifully but creases, fades and moves with humidity. Velvet needs lining and weight behind it. Composition matters more in this position than pattern does.

Track Or Pole

A pole is visible hardware and needs solid wall at both ends, plus a centre bracket on any long run. A track disappears into the ceiling line, carries more weight and can be recessed. In Al Khan apartments we use track for nearly everything, keeping poles for shorter bedroom windows where the finial is part of the look.

Where Home Measuring Goes Wrong

Three mistakes come up constantly. Measuring the glass instead of the track line, so the finished curtain ends up narrower than the window. Forgetting the return into the wall, which is exactly where light escapes at night. And forgetting the stack, so the open curtain sits across a third of your view.

Samples, Lead Times And Getting The Fabric You Chose

We bring the sample book to your home rather than asking you to judge fabric under showroom lighting. Colours read differently against your own wall and your own floor, and a fabric that looked warm in the shop can turn flat and grey in a room that never gets direct sun.

Stock fabrics are cut and made within our normal lead times. Anything imported to order adds roughly two to three weeks, and we tell you which category your choice falls into before you commit, not after a deposit has been taken.

If you are curtaining several rooms in one fabric, we order the whole quantity in a single cut so it all comes from the same dye lot. Adding a room six months later rarely matches exactly, so it is worth deciding the full scope at the start even if you fit it in stages.
