JBR asks more of a curtain than anywhere else in Dubai. The sun is unobstructed, the sand is abrasive, and a large share of these apartments are handling forty different sets of guests a year. Fabric that is fine two streets inland does not last here.
Three things about a JBR window

Sand is not dust
Dust settles and washes out. Sand is angular, it embeds in the weave, and every time the fabric moves the grains work against the fibres. On a beach-facing balcony door that is thousands of small abrasions a season. We specify tighter, smoother weaves here for exactly that reason , not because they look different, because they hold up.

The light arrives from below as well as above
Pale sand reflects hard, and the sea behind it reflects again. Low-angle light bounces up into the room, under a curtain that would handle overhead sun perfectly well. It changes the drop, and on lower floors it changes the fabric.

The Walk does not close
Restaurant terraces, promenade lighting and event nights run late, and on the lower floors the glow comes upward from street level rather than in from the horizon. Those apartments need proper blackout with a floor-length drop, because light at that angle finds a gap at the hem before anywhere else.

Almost certainly an unrated fabric on the most exposed aspect in the city. JBR takes direct sun plus reflection off sand and water. UV-rated face fabric with a lining behind it is the fix, and it is not a large premium.
