Which Layer Sits Against The Glass

Sheer goes nearest the window, lined or blackout goes nearest the room. That order matters. It lets you use the sheer on its own through the day, it keeps heavy fabric away from a hot pane, and it stops the lining sitting in condensation. Reversing the two is the most common thing we get called out to fix.

How You Will Actually Use It

A cord suits medium runs and costs the least. A baton is cleaner on sheers and avoids a hanging cord in a child’s room. Remote control starts making sense above two and a half metres or on anything heavy. App and timer control only earns its cost if you want curtains moving while you are out.

Wall To Wall, Or Just The Window

Covering a full wall makes a room look larger and hides an awkward window position, but you pay for every extra metre of fabric and fullness on top. It is worth it in a living room with an off-centre window. It is rarely worth it in a bedroom, where a generous return does the same job for less.

What The Warranty Actually Covers

Ours covers making and hardware, meaning stitching, heading, track and motors. It does not cover fading, shrinkage from a hot home wash, or a track loaded with heavier curtains than it was specified to carry. Ask any supplier which of those three they exclude, because that is where most disputes begin.

How An Order Runs, Start To Finish

We visit, measure every window and leave the sample book with you rather than pushing for a decision on the spot. You get a written quote priced window by window, so you can see what each room costs and drop one out without the whole thing being requoted.

On approval we take a deposit and cut. Manufacturing is where the time goes, not fitting, which is why the lead times below are driven by the number of windows rather than the size of the property. Imported fabric adds to that, and we flag it before you commit rather than afterwards.

Fitting is normally a single visit. We level the track, hang and dress the curtains, take the packaging away with us, and leave the folds tied for a few days so they set. Anything needing adjustment in the first weeks, we come back and sort out.

The sheer. Blackout or lined fabric hangs on the room side, so you can use the sheer alone through the day and the heavier fabric stays off a hot pane. It also keeps the lining out of condensation, which is what causes marks along the top edge.

Yes, on motorised systems. A remote handset is standard, and app or timer control is an add-on worth having if you want curtains closing while the place is empty. For a single bedroom curtain, a plain remote usually does everything you need.

It depends on the room. Wall to wall makes a living room feel larger and disguises an off-centre window, but you pay for every extra metre. In bedrooms, a proper return past the frame gives you the light seal without the additional fabric cost.
