“Blackout” is a range, not a single thing. Some fabrics stop 90% of light, some stop 100%. Here is what we stock and where each one comes from.
| FABRIC | GSM | BLOCKS | UPF | SUPPLIER | FROM |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Triple-weave blackout | 280 | 99–100% | 50+ | Alkilani | AED 65 per sqm |
| Foam-backed blackout | 320 | 100% | 50+ | Al Nassaj | AED 78 per sqm |
| Thermal blackout | 300 | 98–99% | 50+ | York Fabric | AED 65 per sqm |
| Velvet blackout | 350 | 98–99% | 50+ | Guthmi | AED 55 per sqm |
| Linen-blend room darkening | 230 | 90–95% | 40 | Dynamic | AED 65 per sqm |
| Cotton-blend, thermal lined | 250 | 90–96% | 45 | Alkilani | AED 72 per sqm |
Triple-weave, thermal and foam-backed fabrics. All cut to your window.
We mount at ceiling height, not on the window frame, because the top of the glass is where blackout fails first. Tracks carry a centre overlap arm so the two panels cross rather than meet. Return ends curve back to the wall, closing the side gap. Brackets sit every 30cm to hold coated fabric, which is heavier than it looks.
In addition, hems are set to touch the floor, killing the last line of light. Before leaving, we close everything, switch the lights off, and check the whole room for leaks ourselves.
The light blocking comes from the weave and the backing, not the colour. Every shade below is available with a full blackout core.
The heading decides how the curtain stacks, how much fabric it needs, and how well it seals at the top, which matters more for blackout than for anything else.
Soft, even S-folds on a slim track. The cleanest modern look.
Tailored, structured folds. Formal living rooms and bedrooms.
Metal rings glide on a pole. Simple and quick to draw.
Fabric channel slides straight onto the pole. Budget-friendly.
Ready-made panels stop at standard drops. Dubai windows often do not. This is the single most common reason an off-the-shelf blackout curtain fails here.
| WINDOW TYPE | RELATIVE DROP | DROP | READY-MADE? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard apartment | 220–240 cm | Sometimes | |
| Tall apartment | 270 cm | Rarely | |
| Floor-to-ceiling | 300 cm | No | |
| Double-height villa | 350 cm+ | No | |
| Atrium or majlis | 400 cm+ | No |
Most blackout fabric comes on a roll about 280–300cm wide. Beyond that drop the fabric has to be railroaded or seamed, and the track has to carry real weight.
A 4m living-room slider needs fabric width of roughly 8m once fullness is added. That is several panels joined, matched at the pattern, and hung so the joins do not read as seams.
Triple-weave, thermal and foam-backed fabrics. All cut to your window.
Based on the blackout and sheer fabrics we stock and fit ourselves, measured at the window, not from a brochure.

Good fabric range and honest pricing. The guys arrived on time and finished three rooms in about an hour. Would use again.
I recently got curtains for my living room and bedrooms and blinds for my kitchen. The work was done very quickly in a few days of me contacting them. The quality of the material is also very good. Overall the work and the product was very nice. I would recommend
Ordered blackout curtains for two bedrooms. Team measured on Monday, installed by Friday. Fitting was clean, no marks on walls. Very happy.
Blackout is the one curtain where fitting matters as much as fabric. A perfect panel on a badly set track still leaks light down both sides.
A consultant brings the blackout range to you and checks the light path, which side the sun hits, and where light will try to escape.
Drop, width, ceiling height, and the wall material. Marble, gypsum and concrete each take a different fixing.
Blackout lining is heavy. Hems are weighted and seams reinforced so the panel hangs flat instead of curling.
Track fixed to the ceiling where possible, panels returned to the wall at each end, and a centre overlap so no light line appears.
Free home visit anywhere we work. Same workshop, same installers, same warranty in all three emirates.
Twenty-one years of first phone calls, answered here.
Custom-made blackout curtain prices start at AED 65 per square metre and reach AED 120 for denser fabrics, including blackout lining, track, brackets and installation. A typical 2m by 2.4m bedroom window falls near AED 315 to 580. We measure on site and quote a fixed figure per window.
The fabric blocks 100 percent of light. Darkness in the actual room depends equally on fitting, which is why every curtain is cut to your exact measurements and installed with wrap-around tracks, side overlap and added width, closing the edge gaps that ready-made panels leave.
Yes, and it matters here. Cooling takes 60 to 70 percent of a UAE electricity bill in summer, and light-backed blackout drapes cut solar heat gain by up to 33 percent, according to US Department of Energy figures. West-facing rooms feel the difference first.
Yes. Wide blackout fabric is woven up to 300cm, which covers most drops with no seam. Beyond that, we run the fabric vertically and join widths at the side seams, or place one horizontal join out of eye line. Villa and double-height windows are routine work.
Coated blackout gives the deepest result. 3-pass, with white foam either side of a black membrane, and 2-pass both block light fully, though 2-pass leaves a grey cast on the back. Uncoated triple-weave feels softer but reaches roughly 85 to 98 percent.
Yes. We fit wand-operated tracks with no cord, and motorised tracks that need no handling at all, which suits nurseries and children’s bedrooms. Where a pull cord is requested, we add a breakaway connector and a wall cleat. Tell us which rooms children use.
No, they are the same product. Blockout is the spelling used mainly in Australia and New Zealand, while blackout is standard in the UK, US and UAE. Both describe fabric coated to stop light passing through. Everything on this page applies to either term.
Site measurement takes about thirty minutes. Stitching runs 3 to 4 working days for stocked fabrics, longer for imported or special-order material. Installation is usually finished within a few hours per apartment. Share your handover or move-in date, and we will work backwards from it.
Yes. We motorise any curtain we make using Somfy, at AED 950 to 1,050 per track as a one-time cost with no subscription. Control comes by remote, wall switch, timer or phone app. We check for a power point at measurement so wiring stays hidden.
Yes, and both are regular work for us. Commercial projects here usually call for flame-retardant fabric tested to NFPA 701 or BS 5867, subject to Civil Defence approval, so we supply lab test reports with the order and match colours across repeat phases.
Yes. We measure, manufacture and install across all seven emirates, with Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah covered on scheduled route days to keep site-visit costs down. Fitting is included in the quoted price on standard orders, and warranty visits follow the same routes.
Vacuum monthly with a brush head, which removes most of the dust. Treat marks by blotting rather than rubbing, because rubbing strips the coating. Avoid hot water, bleach, softener, and tumble drying, and follow the care label we stitch in.
Tell us the room and roughly how tall the window is. A consultant brings the blackout range to you, measures, and quotes on the spot.
